Celebrating Progress

Celebrating Progress

Happy Sunday Yogis,

I bought a set of Spirit Junkie cards a few weeks ago, at Marshall's, (where else 😊), and each card has a quote. This one struck a chord with me...."I celebrate my progress. Awareness, not perfection is the goal." Hmmmm....

Most of the time, when a class is over, students tell me all the things they can't do or the poses they had trouble with. Being a perfectionist myself, I get it. But it got me to thinking, why are we the hardest on ourselves? Why is it that we immediately zero in on what we can't do or the things that we want to change about ourselves? I admit, I'm guilty too. I'll be the first to tell you how NOT flexible I am. Or that I struggle with planks.

Last week in Barre we practiced planks, then in Gentle Yoga we tried a one footed bridge. They were both hard. Here's the thing though, it brought an awareness to what we might need work on. "Awareness, not perfection is the goal."

Join me Monday night for Slow Flow as we try a Mirror Shortcut to celebrate the progress that we make every day. That progress is the key. We start as beginners, we fall down, we learn, we pick ourselves back up, that's progress.

Tuesday night in Flow and Unwind we practice balance postures on our toes as well as blocks, to bring our bodies and minds back to center.

*In other news, I have added a morning Barre class! Class starts Wednesday April 20th at 9:30am. This class will be in the same building but upstairs and online through ZOOM. Registration is now open.

*My friend Cher is also starting a Friday morning Flow Yoga class this Friday at 9:30am in the upstairs room, and online through ZOOM. Registration is now open.

If you don't know Cher, she is a wonderful teacher, and our teaching styles are very similar. We met in training 4 years ago and quickly became good friends, and have continued taking many other trainings together.

Here is the link to sign up for Cher's class:

Looking forward to classes with you this week!

Namaste,
