Enjoy the Silence
Happy Sunday!
How are you spending your Sunday? Maybe it will be a noisy day, a quiet day, or somewhere in between.
Most of my days as a young mom were spent with a lot of "noise." I homeschooled both kids so they were with me all the time (which I loved), and most days were hectic, stressful, and very full, with schoolwork, outside classes, and appointments. It was hardly ever time for "quiet."
My kids are grown now and after homeschooling them, I was used to the noise. It was like the noise was a comfort to me. Now with my daughter moved out and mu son working, it's A LOT of quiet. At first, it made me so uncomfortable. I'd turn on the TV, play music, anything to lessen the quiet.
I was at a loss for how to adjust to the quiet times and it took me a long, long time to find comfort in it because I missed the noise and the kids terribly.
The first thing I did was make myself a space. I went out and bought myself an egg chair, set it up by a window, and now that has become my quiet space. I love to sit there and read, meditate, light some candles or incense, etc..It's a lot easier when you have a spot or two planned out in advance where you can go to relax.
Yoga is a balance between the mind and body on and off the mat. Find your balance between the noise and the quiet. It's good for the soul.
Namaste,
Lisa
