I read this quote in one of my favorite books, The Language of Yin by Gabrielle Harris, and I love it!
Things are thrown at us every single day. Feelings like fear and anxiety cause us to tense up. Do we want to feel this way? Of course not, but sometimes we can't help it. In those rare times when we can relax, that is who we truly are when we don't have all the distractions and tough emotions.
In our Yin and Gentle Yoga practice, we drop muscular effort. Our muscles protect us, but they also need to learn how to let go. But, letting go can be tricky. This week in class, surrender to gravity and let your body be held by the earth. Offer all of your weight to the ground as you let go of muscular effort and tension. Relax. Be yourself without all the outside distractions.

*Coming in January: Another Beginner Yoga Series starts January 3rd and runs for 5 weeks on Tuesday's at 6:45pm. Learn the basic yoga postures, alignment, and breath. We will be using props to aid in modifications but also to enhance our practice. Cost is $55 and registration is open.
*We are bringing you Disney Barre!! We've had a special request for this class. Join us Friday January 13th at 5:30pm. Dig out your Disney clothes and let's Barre to those famous Disney songs. Chris will be teaching Yin right after at 6:45pm. Combo tickets are available.
