Celebrating Three Years
This past week we celebrated 3 years of being in business! I cannot believe how that time has flown by! It's been many changes along the way, including renovations, new students, the addition of classes, and more instructors. All I could think of when we opened was having a welcoming place where we could all continue to workout together and I could do what I love, teach.
So here's the back story. We were working out in a great space where the AC was no longer available to us, and man, it was a hot summer!! I went out looking for a space to rent, and found this current location within about a week. I wasn't thinking in terms of opening a "business," I was thinking in terms of, I need to find a place quick so that we can keep things consistent. A month later, after enlisting the help of my handyman, kids, and son-in-law, we opened, and the rest is history.
We started with just two instructors, then along came Denise to do massage, which caught me completely by surprise as I wasn't even thinking of adding massage at that point. Then, I got to know Nichole as she attended my Barre and Pilates classes. When I found out she was Yoga certified, well that was a bonus!!
When we opened, the space was smaller than it is today. The landlord wanted to keep kitchen cabinets in the back of the studio but they took up quite a bit of room. After about three months, I talked him into letting us tear out the cabinets. Here came the helpers again to get the job done. (Judd's favorite part is the tearing down, demo-day). Then, we had more space and the studio really opened up!
Along the way, more wonderful teachers came on the scene, as well as new classes, events, and the addition of Aerial Yoga. Then with Aerial came ripping out the ceiling tiles to allow more space. Hooks, shelves, barn wood along the walls, and other things were added to transform our space, not to mention a website change when we started to outgrow the old one.
Looking back, it has been a lot of work, but not without the rewards of seeing your smiles, your hard work, your transformations physically and mentally, and your determination. It has been a pleasure to see this community grow into the warm, welcoming place that I always hoped it would be. You all are what make this place so great. I have never known such warm, friendly, truly wonderful people. Thank you all for your support these last few years, and I look forward to more years to come.
