WHAT'S YOUR WHY?

Why do you workout? Why do you come to the studio? When I was 22, I started working out. Cardio was the name of the game. I loved all things stair stepper and elliptical, and I stuck with that for a very long time. I never considered it mind body fitness though. It was more in an effort to pound out a workout.

It wasn't until I hit 40 that my fitness routine changed. I found my love for Yoga, Pilates, and Barre, WHY did I switch my way of working out? Anxiety, bouts of depression, and a few medical conditions. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Yoga, Pilates, and Barre gave me the opportunity to notice my body but also my thoughts. Mindfulness. When I tuned into how Yoga made my body feel, I noticed it had effects on my mind too. And vice versa. That's the gem of mind body fitness. Not just pounding out a workout and always in go go go mode. That worked for me a long time ago, but I think as we get older, we change and our "fitness" changes. The benefits of working out your mind become just as important as moving your body.

With that being said, remember your WHY.
