
Where are your boundaries?
Do you struggle with setting boundaries for yourself? I sure do. I'm always down for helping people out, subbing classes, whatever, but I saw this quote recently that I thought made an interesting point.
"You cannot be compassionate if you don't have boundaries."
It went on to say that if you are excluded from your own compassion then it is not compassion. You have to extend it to yourself or it becomes self-sacrifice.
Ask yourself this week if you are setting enough boundaries. Or, are you sacrificing too much of yourself and your time? By not allowing yourself boundaries, saying yes to things that you don't really want to do, or have time for, you are lessening your gratitude and ramping up resentment. It's great to do things for others, but remember that your time is just as important. Have compassion for yourself in not saying "YES" all the time, don't beat yourself up over it, and notice how good it can feel to realize that your own needs are important too.
