YOGA GUILT

YOGA GUILT

Yoga training teaches you to live your life as a yogi. This includes a lifestyle of non harming, non attachment, sattva (goodness), maintaining a healthy body, a focused mind, and inner peace. Through practicing yoga, training, then teaching, I have been able to adopt a lot of these philosophies, but not all the time.

I think the most important one for me has been awareness. Yoga has taught me to notice when I feel good, when I feel bad, physically, but also mentally. I admit when I'm having a bad day and feel like I'm not being true to my yoga roots, I feel guilt.

Through a lot of introspection these past few weeks, I'm learning to let that guilt go. Ups and downs are all a part of this roller coaster life. I have learned to take some time to sit in sadness and happiness, anxiety and peacefulness, bad and good. It's ok to experience everything and not feel guilty. This is how we learn self awareness and the difference between good and bad, right and wrong, happiness and sadness.

When going though tough times, first, know that it's ok to not feel ok. Then come back to your yoga, not just physical yoga, but the grounding, the breathing, the centering. That's what I do. I know that it's there for me whenever I need it.

Love and light,

Lisa
